Many 1.d4 players dislike playing against the queen's gambit declined due to how solid and difficult to attack it is. However, there is a rarer variation called the catalan opening, where you fianchetto the kingside bishop to put pressure on blacks queenside. This can lead to very effective queenside attacks and give you a lasting advantage over your opponent.
